The Chevrolet Astro was a rear-wheel drive mid-sized van introduced by Chevrolet in 1985. Also sharing the Astro's platform was its sibling, the GMC Safari. Some model years of the GMC Safari have keyless entry remote fob smart keys that are onboard programmable, which means a person can program the keyless entry remote fob smart key with no special equipment. However, other model years are not onboard programmable and require special equipment in order to program the keyless entry remote fob smart key. The last Astro and Safari rolled off the assembly line on May 13, 2005.
